She put her hands on my feet

She put her hands on my feet
I hadn’t felt those petals for many springs
I had missed them for many winters
For the love seemed to have been hibernating.

I had been put into a room of shadows
I hadn’t seen sunlight in
her eyes since then
She was struggling to get out of the icy lake
But I didn’t know, I couldn’t help her out.

I wish I could have seen through,
through that little glimpse of light
But I guess I was too far away
too caught up in this dark night.

And as the night gave in to the sunrise
I could feel the warm breeze
of spring settling in
With hope for a new time, I opened my eyes
For the moment had passed, and my feet were alone again.

  1. That’s beautiful.
The imagery from the subject/title is really touching. Still thinking about it..

  2. Dear Alicson,

Thank you so much for your comment. This is a very deep and personal poem to me.

I was so happy to find 1haiku.com, because I felt this was a place I could share a little of myself with other people who are sharing a little of themselves as well.
