Never never land

I heard you flew back yesterday from never never land
Wings ablazing, eyes alight, and danced along the way
I saw a mighty wind blow waves and waves upon the sand
A gentleman, with cane in hand, has not too much to say

He’d look at you; he can’t believe—in only dreams you’ve come
Wings ablazing, eyes alight, and danced along the sky
Here, my dear, I’m standing clear and strong, alone, myself
I’ve worried days and moon-filled nights you’d end up on the shelf.

He’d bring you water; all you need for you to smile again
He’d hold you close and tuck you in and sing a lullabye
Goodnight my dear, goodnight my friend, sleep safe and sound tonight
May stars and clouds watch over you, and dance along the way
